Heavy fouling and slagging are typical phenomena in biomass fired boilers. Deposits grown on heat exchanger tube surfaces result in decreased boiler efficiency or cause blockages unless they break due to their own weight or are removed by soot blower cleaning.  The time lapse video shows the growth of deposits on a test rig tube over a period of 55 minutes.
